So did I make it? I guess I did. Despite probably going over a few times in the later part, I'm fairly confident that I stuck to it
very strictly in the first part, probably under-estimating several times. So it all works out. But hey the scale doesn't like. I
lost 20 pounds in those 41 days, from a predicted 15.7. So yeah there you go. I'll give you a more in-depth update later on. For now,
here's the log from the second half. Enjoy basking in my stupidity.
COMMENTS:
On day 27 I was forced to go back home because of something that happened in my close family. So from that point onward I had a fainter idea
of what I was eating. It was a good test to see if I could keep myself from devouring all the tasty shitty food there that I don't
have to pay for. I'd eat entire rows of cookies as a snack sometimes or like half a pizza. YUMMY.
THINGS I'VE LEARNED:
- Breakfast cereals have way too many calories. All of them.
- You can eat normally pretty much every day BUT DON'T DRINK OR TAKE DESSERTS. I think that's the biggest killer. You'll eat until
you're decently full on normal food but if you drink or eat that muffin or those 5 cookies, that puts you in the red zone by 200-500
calories really fast. 500 extra calories per day is a pound a week. 52 pounds in one year. That's REAL FAT, REAL FAST.
-Eating pastries/beer is doubly bad because it actually makes you MORE hungry. Eating one piece of cake makes you hungry for like 70%
of the amount of cake you've eaten. You will eat until its gone.
- 2000 calories a day isn't for sedentary people. The food guide people should tone those estimates down because I bet all those "based
on a 2000 calorie diet" values on labels of just about all the food you buy are bs. They made the food guide based on the dietary requirements
of a greek marathon runner, not a cubicle rat. Seriously look at the food guide. It says 6-12 servings of grains per day. They count
those in slices of bread. That's anywhere from 600 to 1200 calories OF BREAD ALONE. That covers 1 food group out of 4. Holy shit
you have to be a rocket scientist to manage to eat everything they recommend but still find food that will give you under
1800 calories.
